Seth & Leslie JURGENSON

STUDENTS INTERNATIONAL
NICARAGUA

Seth Jurgenson serves as the Field Director for the ministry of Students International in Nicaragua. He leads his multinational staff in ministering to the local communities as well as incorporating outreach participants into the ongoing ministry. Seth and Leslie also helped to start up a non-profit foundation for premature babies and their families. Their son Andrew was born prematurely in Nicaragua and they felt compelled to help make a difference to others in the same situation. Leslie started a small business (Sunshine Handmade) to help fund the foundation and is pouring into, and discipling, the workers at the shop. They have two children, Natalia and Andrew, and they both love when teams come to visit.

Students International seeks to bring participants and the communities together cross-culturally to encounter God, preach the Good News, disciple, and serve one another in. They desire to see participants and the communities transformed into the likeness of Christ and discover their true calling. They see this happening through occupational ministry sites, ranging from Agriculture to Microfinance. These ministry sites are a gateway into people’s lives in order to share Jesus Christ, all the while they incorporate outreaches from the United States to help them carry out that vision. The hope is that they can all discover their passions and use them for the kingdom of God, wherever that might be.

Students International also serves in Costa Rica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. The majority of their missionaries in the field are host nationals. They love being able to see leaders rise up within the countries that they serve, in order to see them serve. Seth feels his role involves overseeing the entire ministry in Nicaragua, but more than that, equipping his staff for success in carrying out the mission and vision of Students International.
